Little island of only 25 km2, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint Barth for close, has nowadays more than 6000 inhabitants. The island is very well known for its originality, the life rhythm and its beauty is apart from other caribbean islands.
Saint-Barthélemy is a mountainous island, the only plat land is occupied by the little airport landing strip.
Its main point is Vitet hill, 281 m high.

All its valleys are singular thank to their topography, flora, habitat and their architecture ,really unique. Maybe that’s why people think that it’s bigger as it seems…

22 white-sand beaches, one more beautiful than the other, round Saint-Barthélemy. Most of them are protected by coral reef. All beaches are legally public and free.

No rivers, or watercourse, that’s why water is so expensive and impose a real severity in its use.

The island was discovered by Christopher Columbus in his second trip during 1493, he named it with his brother name. Than it become french property with its first colons. Because of its aridity, agriculture was practically never developed, that’s why they didn’t bring slaves and population is majority white.

After a century of Swedish domination with a free port statute, the island is retro ceded to France august 10th 1877, with one condition : inhabitants will maintain their vested interests during Swedish years. Saint Barth belongs to Guadeloupe department till the referendum of December 7th 2003, when St. Barth people decide to free and become a real French territorial collectivity.

In 1940, Saint-Barthélemy opens to tourism, by building an airport and the first hotel. Very fast, in spite of the air trip democratisation, to avoid mass-tourism, Saint Barth becomes fortuned guests destination.

Many sport or relaxing activities, Saint-Barth will satisfy all its guests. For athletes, gym hall, nautical activities, fishing, golf…
To distress, massages, yoga, or simply all wonderful beaches of the island. They’re 22, and all perfect to relax. The island also offer some wonderful landscapes to admire. L’anse Grand Galet, also called Shell Beach because of many beautiful shellfishes, is the best place to admire wonderful sunsets.

Climate is typically type dry maritime: it means plenty of sun, rare rain, a light wind coming from east to stay fresh, some twilights and calm nights, a temperature between 22 to 30° C. Easy way of life in French West Indies… If traditions maintain straw hat, it’s simply because sun is a hard hitter. No problem, sea is tepid : from July to October its temperature can reach 29° C and never goes down under 24° C during dry season.
