Your identity papers :
- You are a French citizen
- A valid identity card is sufficient for your trip in the French West Indies or a passport.
You are a foreigner under 18 living in France

Unaccompanied children
Children less than 18 years old must present their identity card (which is the only piece of identification required in France and certain countries in the European Union) or their own passport.
For international travel, if the accompanying traveler is not the child´s father, mother, or legal guardian, then he or she must hold the child´s travel documents (ID, authorization to leave the country, etc.). If a passport is required for entry into the country of destination, then the authorization to leave the country is not necessary.

Children under 15 must appear on the French citizen’s passport who accompanies them or possess their own identity card.
From 15 years, it is compulsory that children have their own identity card.
For the French overseas departments, minors, even younger than 15, must have their own identity card.
New regulation for babies
Wherever the destination, the identity card or the baby passport is compulsory to travel. The family record book is no longer valid.
